24th August 2008: Internal CER Memo says Gas Prices will rise 15% if Shannon LNG comes on stream due to fixed charges that must be paid in any case on the Gas Interconnectors with the UK

August 24th 2008: According to media reports, an internal CER memo has stated that gas prices will soar by about 15% if Corrib and Shannon LNG start production. The memo attributes the rising cost of gas to the declining use of two inter-connectors linking the UK's gas supplies with Ireland.
