Press Release 21st April 2010:  Bord Gais Planning second 26 kilometre  gas pipeline to Tarbert independent of Shannon LNG.

Research by 'Safety Before LNG'  has uncovered plans by Bord Gais to build a second pipeline route from the national grid to the proposed gas power station by Endesa at Tarbert at least 26 kilometres away which "is independent of the proposed Shannon LNG project".

'Safety Before LNG' says that the case is now overwhelming for the need for a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the Plans for the Shannon Estuary as demanded by the EU Commission in January.

The information on the gas projects are coming in dribs and drabs and the statutory bodies are now showing a total disregard for integrated development, and all this trouble for even less jobs at Tarbert when it is all over (38 the oral hearing was told yesterday).
