To help in
the negotiations for government formation, we
now have a massive consensus from the
grass-root environmental movement - with
over 100 national and international NGOs signed
up in just one day - to an agreed LNG
Policy wording which we feel must be included in any new Programme for
Government .
With this unified voice from the environmental
movement along with the pledge from almost half the Dail that they were "opposed
to the
importation of US fracked Gas into Ireland via LNG import terminals"
we are showing the political reality that
a policy of fracked gas imports that harm
the climate and hurt affected communities abroad is
not acceptable in Ireland - where we have already banned fracking.
We
are reaching out to all the political parties on this matter.
The document is still open here for other
NGOs to add their voice of
support if they so wish
